,under the editorship of Dr. Solomon Grayzel,
has been published regularly as the literary supplement to
The
JWB Circle.
This is the only periodical which attempts to review
all English books of Jewish interest published in this country.
I t has received wide acclaim and is being used as a guide for
the selection of books by both individuals and institutional
libraries.
JEWISH BOOK EXHIBITS
The following portable exhibits were circulated on loan to
various organizations:
100 Selected Books in English, Yiddish and Hebrew for the
Jewish Home
The Life and Works of Peretz
Transmigration of a Melody by Peretz
Jewish Bookplates
300 Years of American Jewish Literature
In 1954, the Council participated in the exhibit at the annual
convention of the American Library Association in Minneapolis.
The Jewish Community Center of St. Paul handled the local
arrangements. This exhibit, visited by thousands of public and
college librarians, attracted considerable recognition.
LIBRARY CITATIONS
Citations were presented to the following libraries which met
the minimum criteria for a Jewish library established by the
Council: Hebrew Educational Alliance, Denver, Colo.; Jewish
Teachers’ Seminary & People’s University, New York, N.Y.;
Library of Judaica & Hebraica, N.Y.U. Jewish Culture Founda-
tion, New York, N.Y.; Jewish Public Library, Toronto, Ontario;
B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation, McGill University, Montreal,
Quebec; Shaare Zion Congregation, Montreal, Quebec; and Con-
gregation Shaar Hashomayim, Westmount, Quebec.
There are now 72 libraries of Jewish Community Centers,
Jewish schools, synagogues and other agencies that have been
awarded citations.
