1889. A Liberal rabbi in Magdeburg, Germany, he also founded
and edited the
A llgemeine Zeitung des Judenthums,
1837-1889,
which was the most widely-read Jewish magazine in Germany.
He also edited a German Bible translation for the Jewish home,
wrote religious school text-books, poems and stories based on
Jewish history, and apologetic works.
