HIS yearly review is being written during Israel’s “Book
Week” which was opened on Lag Ba’Omer of this year.
In every corner of the State of Israel one can see kiosks and
stands filled with a variety of books on all subjects of this year’s
productivity as well as of the vintage of former years. This
exhibition of Israel’s book industry makes a deep impression,
both for its quantity and for its quality. The art of book-making
has reached a high level and many editions can well compete
with the best of similar editions published abroad.
Worthy of mention among the books recently published are
the collected works of such authors as Mordecai ben Yehezkel,
* English translation by M. G. Glenn.
