The Future of Yiddish Fiction
The future of Yiddish fiction is bound up with the future of
all Yiddish literary expression and with the size of the prospec-
tive Yiddish reading public. There is no doubt, however, that
the Yiddish narrative works of great power and beauty created
by the novelists during the century between 1863 and 1963 will
continue to be read both in the original and increasingly in
translation. They will long continue to stir the Jewish heart
and fire the Jewish imagination both in the Jewish homeland
and in all the lands of Jewish dispersion.
