Library Citations
The progressive growth in the number of libraries in Jewish
institutions has been most gratifying. A total of 172 libraries
of Jewish Community Centers, Jewish schools, Hillel Founda-
tions, synagogues and other agencies have been awarded cita-
tions by the Council for meeting minimum criteria. The follow-
ing were the recipients of the citations in 1965:

The annual Harry and Florence Kovner Memorial Award
for Yiddish Poetry, consisting of $100.00 and a citation, was
presented to Aleph Katz for his

New York). The judges were H. Bass, Yudel Mark and Moshe
Starkman.
Harry and Ethel Daroff M emorial Fiction Award
Elie Wiesel, author of
The Town Beyond the Wall
(Athe-
neum, New York), was the winner of the Harry and Ethel
Daroff Memorial Fiction Award valued at $250.00 and a cita-
tion. The judges were Charles Angoff, David Boroff, Leo W.
Schwarz and Dr. Dan Vogel.
