The many-faceted contributions of American Hebrew poets and
prose writers have already received recognition in numerous
anthologies and volumes of literary history and criticism. In
evaluating these contributions over the past quarter century, spe-
cial note must be taken of the role of our two Hebrew literary
publications: the Hebrew weekly
now completing its
46th year, and the Hebrew monthly
issued for 28 years.
These journals have helped foster not only
but also
publicist writings, essays and criticism and scholarly research.
Present indications point to these as the areas in which American
Hebrew literature will find its main expression in the years ahead.
