Thanks to the high intellectual standards of the Yiddish press,
its dailies had among their contributors such high ranking so-
cial interpreters, political commentators, Jewish theoreticians, es-
sayists, critics and biographers as were Shlomo Bickel, Abraham
Coralnik, Lazar Fogelman, David Shoub, Isser Ginsburg, Peter
Wiernik, M. Nadir, H. Guttman-Lebediker, J. Kissin, Hayim
Lieberman, Samuel Margoshes, A. Mukdony, Sh. Niger, M. Ol-
gin, M. Osherowitz, B. Rivkin, H. Rogoff, A. S. Sachs, S. Z. Setzer,
N. Syrkin and Hayim Zhitlovsky. It would take up many pages
to mention all the departed who during their lifetime contributed
so much to Yiddish literature by way of Yiddish journalism. The
bound volumes of Yiddish dailies contain now-forgotten Yiddish
literary riches. This creative wealth deserves to be issued in book-
form, for the spiritual enrichment of present-day readers and for
the enrichment of Jewish national culture in general.
