Israel.” The Basel Program speaks not of the “Land of Israel”
but of “Palestine.” So we are reminded tha t a word once sacred
to Zionists had come to be malodorous in their nostrils. (Stu
dents of the Bible will recall how the name of one of the sons of
Saul is changed from Ish-baal to Ish-bosheth.) One wonders what
will be acceptable by the time the next edition of the
Britannica
appears; one even hopes that an atmosphere of peace will take
the contention out of such matters.
