and profound gratitude to Dr. Alexander
A lan Steinbach upon completion of twenty
years as editor of the
Jewish Book Annual.
Dr. Steinbach has enhanced this major pub li­
cation with his literary talents and his utter
devotion. H is loyal service to the Council has
been an inspiration and source of encourage­
ment to his colleagues.
As editor of the
Jewish Book Annual
and
of
Jewish Bookland,
as author of nine signifi­
cant volumes of Judaica and as poet of award
w inning verse, Dr. Steinbach has enriched
American Jewish literature; as rabbi and
communal leader, he has made enduring con­
tributions to the American Jewish com­
munity.
On this occasion we salute him and offer
the prayer that he will continue to sustain us
from the abundant harvest of his literary
sowing.
