Jewish Book Council of JWB
1977-1978
T h i s p a s t y e a r
has seen the initiation of various new projects
and the institution of several changes on the part of the JWB
Jewish Book Council.
JEWISH BOOK M O N TH
In a desire to initiate a new series of boldly bright graphics
to celebrate Jewish Book Month, the Council issued an attractive
silver, purple and white poster designed by Sy Warsaw. Part of
the design of the poster was reduced and formed the basis for
the bookmarks which the Council annually makes available
during Jewish Book Month.
Many new communities have begun sponsoring book fairs
in celebration of National Jewish Book Month. Especially
noteworthy last year was the newly initiated Toronto Book
Fair which featured a lavish display of books and records beau-
tifully displayed and artfully arranged.
In addition, the Council was able to offer advice to numerous
communities seeking to initiate National Jewish Book Month
celebrations—whether in the form of book fairs, exhibits, dis-
plays, lectures, discussions, book reviews or meet-the-author
sessions.
JEWISH BOOK ANNUAL
The Council was fortunate once again, to have Dr. Jacob
Kabakoff as the editor of the
Jewish Book Annual.
Dr. Kabakoff
was instrumental in bringing together the members of the
Editorial Advisory Board who expended much time and effort
in suggesting areas and possible topics for coverage in this year’s
Annual.
The Council was fortunate in again receiving the generous
support of the Lucius N. Littauer Foundation and the Israel
Matz Foundation whose gifts help in defraying the expense
of publishing this volume.
