NATIONAL JEW ISH BOOK AWARDS COMMITTEE

For the first time this year the nominees for each of the 1981
National Jewish Book Awards were publicly announced. While
the judges did not submit nominees in some categories, it is
expected that next year there will be nominees in all categories.
The awards were widely announced in the American Jewish
press, as well as in the New York Times and Publishers Weekly.
JEW ISH BOOK MONTH
For the first time, a Jewish Book Month kit was designed for
libraries, centers and schools to promote Jewish Book Month.
The kit consisted of posters, bookmarks for adults and children.
Each kit contained two posters of general interest, two posters for
children, 100 bookmarks (a recommended reading list for
adults), and 100 bookmarks for children (a recommended read­
ing list). The cost of the kit was $10.00. The general interest
poster, bearing the slogan “Savor These Jewish Delights,” was
designed by Avrum Ashery. The children’s poster, “K’tonton
Celebrates Jewish Book Month,” was designed by Marilyn Hirsh
and was printed in cooperation with the Jewish Publication Soci­
ety of America. The children’s bookmark was prepared by Marcia
Posner, librarian; the adult bookmark was prepared by Alta
Eisenpress, librarian.

Dr. Jacob Kabakoff continued to serve as editor for the fifth
year. A special flyer was designed to promote
the Annual
and to
solicit standing orders. The Council again acknowledges the ef-
