GOODMAN ---- THE JEWISH BOOK COUNCIL

responsible for developing interest in the observance of Jewish
Book Month on the part of hundreds of religious schools. Specially
noteworthy has been the participation of the Jewish members
of the armed forces of the United States in the program which
was stimulated by Jewish chaplains and JWB field representa-
tives.
Two outstanding broadcasts on nation-wide hook-ups featured
the opening and closing of Jewish Book Month. Chaplain Jacob
Hochman spoke from Rome on the Eternal Light program,
sponsored by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. The
Talmud was the subject of the Columbia Broadcasting System’s
“Invitation to Learning” program on December 10, with the
following participants: Eugene O’Neill, Jr., Dr. William F.
Albright, and Rabbi Joseph H. Lookstein. A number of other
radio programs were sponsored on New York City stations.
