over 200 ballads, narrative and lyrical poems, the poet extolls his
ancestors, the Jewish way o f life, the land o f Israel, the Yiddish
language and the Yiddish writer. A deeply religious poet, Fuchs
recalls the humility'; sincerity and intimacy o f the traditional Yid­
dish tkhine or prayer o f supplication. The volume also contains a
number o f nature poems inspired by the majestic landscapes o f
North America.
