Toledo, Spain, March 29, 1244.

prominent rabbi and teacher of
Spanish Jewry, he is considered the last representative o f the Span­
ish method o f Talmudic study. Only his commentaries on
Bava
Batra
and
Sanhedrin
are extant. He is best known for his controversy
