With the continual intensification of the program of the Jewish Book Council
of America, its influence is being felt more and more in both large and small com-
munities in the United States as well as overseas. The program of the Council,
developed in the United States and intensified through the cooperation of the
National Jewish Welfare Board, has begun to set a pattern for other Jewish com-
munities throughout the world. With the cooperation of the World Federation of
YMHA’s, projects similar to ours have been initiated in South America, England,
France and South Africa. It is especially gratifying that we in America are now
serving as a stimulus for the Jewish cultural development in other lands. During
the year under review, it became apparent that the Jewish communities in differ-
ent parts of the world were turning to us for inspiration and guidance. Naturally,
every possible assistance was rendered to make effective programs with aims similar
to ours whenever a call was received.

In the past year, the Council continued to further its aims through the prepara-
tion and distribution of various publications recorded herewith.
